CD62L, or L-selectin is a surface marker protein present on naïve T cells. Its regulation plays a pivotal role in controlling the traffic of T-lymphocytes to and from peripheral lymph nodes. Compared to other T-cell surface marker proteins, such as CCR7, which can be found in either in central memory cells (Tcm), or in effector memory cells (Tem), CD62L is uniformly expressed in Tcm cells (CD62L+), allowing for a clear differentiation between T-cell populations.
