Ubiquitin is a small protein of 76 amino acids present in the cell cytoplasm. It is presently ubiquitous in all eukaryotic cells, thus its name. There is a large research community studying various paths and different processes in which ubiquitin is believed to play a relevant role. One of the most notorious functions of ubiquitin is to tag defective proteins to be sent into the proteasome for degradation, vital for the maintenance of the cellular household.

Our sdAb recognizes the ubiquitin irrespective of its linkage to other subunits or its multimeric state. Thus, the Ubiquitin Selector captures most ubiquitin forms (monomeric and if part of poly chains).
